Grade Distribution

Staten Island is NYC's most suburban borough by a wide margin — mostly single-family houses, low density, and building scores that reflect careful owner-occupancy. The northern shore (St. George, Stapleton, Port Richmond) is denser and carries the borough's only meaningful distress signals. South of the expressway, neighborhoods like Tottenville, Great Kills, and Annadale are essentially suburban communities with excellent building conditions. It's the smallest of the five boroughs but among the healthiest overall.
