The two biggest additions since launch: a citywide map of distressed buildings, and weekly Condition Trends on every building page — plus an accuracy pass on our own claims.

The Distress Map

  • Every building we grade D or F — about 28,500, roughly 1 in 16 of the buildings we grade — on one citywide map, refreshed nightly.
  • Click any dot for the specific reasons behind the grade: open Class C hazards, vacate orders, lien sales, litigation, chronic heat complaints.
  • Filter by borough, grade, or issue type (vacate orders, liens, litigation, heat complaints). Search any NYC address to jump straight to it.
  • Shareable links: every building on the map has its own URL.

Condition Trends — new on every building page

  • Every graded building now carries a weekly Condition Trend: STABLE, DETERIORATING, or UNDER REVIEW, computed from 15 weeks of point-in-time snapshots.
  • DETERIORATING means sustained, measurable movement in the public record — for example, open hazardous violations rising from 78 to 228 over 13 weeks. We show the numbers and the trajectory, never a bare percentage.
  • The trend describes what is on record. It is not a prediction — and we label it that way on every card.
  • Free accounts see the full trend card: the 15-week trajectory, the specific reasons, and when the building entered our watch list.

Accuracy pass

  • Corrected our own numbers sitewide: we now ingest 25 public data sources (previously stated 25) totaling 140+ million records (previously stated 90M+). These now update from one verified source, so they can't silently drift again.
  • Backtest claims on the partnerships page now state exactly which scoring model and time window they describe.
  • Every data claim on the map and trend surfaces traces to NYC public records you can verify yourself.
